Railways terminates freight corridor contract with China

NEW DELHI, July 18: The Indian Railways' Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has terminated the contract with China for the signalling and telecommunication work of the 417-km long Kanpur-Mughalsarai section. The project cost was Rs 471 crore.

The Railways had announced the termination of ties with the Chinese company in June last. Now the contract has been officially cancelled. The contract awarded to a Chinese company in 2016. The company was supposed to complete the work by 2019, but only 20 percent of the work has been completed.

The DFCCIL is looking for Indian companies that can execute the project. It will issue fresh tender for the project in August.
