PM opens covid testing centres in Noida, Mumbai, Kolkata on Monday

These large centres will serve the people of the regions in a substantial way as 10,000 tests will be conducted at each centre every day from day one. The labs are enabled to test other diseases also like Hepatitis B and C, HIV, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Cytomegalovirus, Chlamydia, Neisseria, Dengue, etc.

NEW DELHI, July 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday will launch new coronavirus (covid) sample testing centres in Noida, Mumbai and Kolkata. The virtual launching will be done in the video presence of Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The testing facilities are located at the ICMR institutions in the respective areas - National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research in Noida, National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health in Mumbai and the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases in Kolkata.

With 10,000 tests planned to be conducted at each centre per day from day one, these facilities are expected to be hugely fulfillinfg the demands of the respective regions.

The labs are enabled to test other diseases also like Hepatitis B and C, HIV, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Cytomegalovirus, Chlamydia, Neisseria, Dengue, etc.

The centres will ramp up testing capacity in the country and help in strengthening early detection and treatment, thus assisting in controlling the spread of the pandemic, a press release said.

These large centres will also boost a sense of health security among the people of the region in the time of the new global epidemic which calls for precaution as a therapy is yet to be found.
