Delhi CM Kejriwal prays for the people at Hanuman temple on his birthday

Kejriwal visited the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place alongwith his wife on his birthday on Sunday and offered prayers for the good health of the Delhi people in the context of the rampaging coronavirus epidemic and performed 'abhishek' at the nearby Shiv linga.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal, who had sought oximeters as birthday gift from party supporters, said on Sunday he had received commitments for 30,000 of them. He had also asked party volunteers to set up oxygen testing centres in their respective local areas which is the only way to provide genuine diagnostic assistance, at no cost, to the people at the bottom level not knowing where to go.

NEW DELHI, Aug 16: Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi's Chief Minister and national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), offered prayers at the famous Hanuman temple in Delhi on his birthday on Sunday. He turned 52.

He visited the temple located in Connaught Place along with his wife and prayed for the good health of Delhiities.

Kejriwal, while addressing party volunteers on Independence Day on Saturday, had said that he would not be celebrating his birthday this time because of the coronavirus epidemic and asked them to wish him from their home.

There were no festivities at his residence in Civil Lines either.

"Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place on his birthday on Sunday, worshipped the deity and performed ''abhishek''. He prayed for the good health of the people of Delhi," the Chief Minister's Office tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Kejriwal on Twitter: "Birthday wishes to Delhi CM Shri @ArvindKejriwal Ji. Praying for his long and healthy ife."

Meanwhile, Kejriwal, who had sought oximeters as birthday gift, said on Sunday in another tweet: "Already recd commitments for 30,000 oxymeters. Am overwhelmed. Will now set up ''oxygen jaanch kendra'' in 30,000 villages. Commitments still pouring in. Will help set it up in more villages. Thank u donors. We will train village youth n give them oxymeters to set up oxy kendras."

The Chief Minister had on Saturday asked party volunteers to set up oxygen testing centres in their local areas to provide diagnostic assistance to suspected coronavirus patients.
