Clashes, arson after police shoot another Black man in Wisconsin
Widespread protests have been raging in several American cities for some time with incidents of police atrocity on Blacks happening one after other. The shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin on Sunday has been the latest, preceded by the shooting of Trayford Pellerin in Lafayette, Louisiana, George Floyd in Minneapolis and Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky.

KENOSHA (Wisconsin), Aug 25: Violence is escalating in Wisconsin with buildings and cars set alight following the police shooting of a Black man. In what looks like a repeat of the George Flyod case, Jacob Blake, 29, was shot at by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Sunday evening. As protesters violated curfew, police used teargas. Democratic Governor Tony Evers has called up the National Guard to help the local police.

Jacob Blake was shot in the back seven times in close range as he entered a car (seen in white T-shrt in the pic) to escape the chasing two cops, according to eyewitnesses. In a video of the incident taken by a witness, Blake is seen leaning into the car as an officer is grabbing his shirt. Seven shots are heard.

The unarmed man's three children aged 3, 5 and 8 years were in the car, witnessing the shooting of their father, according to officials. Blake is in the intensive care unit of a Milwaukee hospital now.

As the video went viral on the social media, there were widespread protests leading to clamping of curfew in the area.

The two police officers were on leave on Monday as State authorities investigated.

The incident inflamed protests which were continuing in several cities for a long time against police excesses on Blacks.

Police had clashed with protesters in Lafayette, Louisiana, after police fatally shot Trayford Pellerin, a 31-year-old Black man, outside a convenience store, last Saturday.

Pellerin's death and protests closely followed a summer of widespread outrage over police brutality against Black people like George Floyd in Minneapolis and Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky.
