UK imposes up to 10,000 pound fine for violation of coronavirus rules
As there is another wave of coronavirus cases, Britain has introduced a very high penalty for violators of isolation rules. The penalty will come into force from September 28. According to the new rule, people who have symptoms or test positive must be in self-isolation for 10 days. Around 42,000 people have died of coronavirus in the UK so far.

LONDON, Sept 20: Britain has introduced a penalty of 10,000 pounds for violation of coronavirus self-isolation rules, to take effect from September 28. The rule applies to those who test positive for covid and those who had contact with any infected person and not following quarantine rules. The decision follows a spurt in covid cases.

People who have symptoms or test positive must be in self- isolation for 10 days. Those who live with someone who either has symptoms or tests positive must self-isolate for 14 days. Employers who threaten to sack employees who are in self-quarantine and are absent due to the infection will invite huge fine.

The fine will start at 1,000 pounds for first offence, going up to 10,000 pounds ffor repeat offenders. Low-income workers who have no earnings will receive a 500-pound support apart from other usual benefits.

"People who choose to ignore the rules will face significant fines," Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in a statement on Saturday. “The best way we can fight this virus is by everyone following the rules and self-isolating if they’re at risk of passing on coronavirus. And so nobody underestimates just how important this is, new regulations will mean you are legally obliged to do so if you have virus or have been asked to isolate by the National Health Service," he said.

After a lull, cases are rising again in the UK. The Prime Minister warned of a second wave, "We are seeing it in France, in Spain, across Europe..." He said there is no more lockdowns. Meanwhile, there were anti-vaccine and ant- lockdown protests in the city.

Around 42,000 people have died of coronavirus in the UK, topping the list for casualties in Europe. There were 4,422 more cases on Saturday, the most since May 8.
