Delhi airport to provide coronavirus testing for outbound international passengers
The covid testing facility is being extended to air travellers leaving Delhi for other countries also. The airport has been offering the facility to inbound international passengers since September 12. Although international scheduled flights remain cancelled since March 23 due to coronavirus, special flights are operated on a country-to- country arrangement.

NEW DELHI, Oct 25: The Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) will soon begin covid testing for outbound international passengers too. The facility is already functioning for international inbound passengers since September 12.

"The facility has now been extended to air travellers leaving India for other countries. Notably, international travel rules require passengers travelling from one country to another to produce COVID negative reports," a press release issued by Genestrings Diagnostic Centre, which operates the testing lab at the Delhi airport, said on Saturday.

Genestrings conducts RT-PCR tests for Covid-19 and provides reports within 4-6 hours. The out-going travellers need to arrive at the airport 7-8 hours before their scheduled flight to take the test, the press release said. For incoming passengers, there is online facility to book for testing in advance before arrival.

The test is available 24x7 and is priced at Rs 2,400 as mandated by the Delhi Government, the release said.

The COVID-19 testing facility had started at the multi-level car parking area of Terminal 3 in collaboration with Genestrings Diagnostic Centre on September 12.

The international flights remain suspended in view of the coronavirus epidemic since March 23. However, a Vande Bharat Mission was launched in May by the Government to repatriate Indians stranded abroad. Besides, in July the Government began signing country to country agreements called 'air bubbles' to facilitate essential international travel on a limited way. India today has air bubbles with 17 countries.
