RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das tests positive for coronavirus
Shaktikanta Das, RBI Governor, and Devendra Fadnavis, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and currently in charge of BJP's election campaign in Bihar, have tested positive for covid. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi also contracted the infection last week.

NEW DELHI, Oct 26: Shaktikanta Das, RBI Governor, has tested positive for coronavirus. He said that he is asymptomatic and will continue to work from isolation.

"I have tested COVID-19 positive. Asymptomatic. Feeling very much alright. Have alerted those who came in contact in recent days. Will continue to work from isolation. Work in RBI will go on normally. I am in touch with all Dy. Govs and other officers through VC and telephone," he posted on Twitter on Sunday.

The RBI has four Deputy Governors - BP Kanungo, MK Jain, MD Patra and M Rajeshwar Rao.

The coronavirus cases in India stayed below 55,000 for the third consecutive day on Sunday. The new fatalities recorded during the 24 hours also dropped to 578 after almost three months, according to the Union Health Ministry.

India's total covid cases stood at over 78 lakh while the number of deaths climbed to 1.18 lakh.

Devendra Fadnavis tests covid positive after Bihar campaign

MUMBAI: Devendra Fadnavis, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and currently in charge of BJP's election campaign in Bihar, has tested positive for covid.

"I have been working every single day since the lockdown but now it seems that God wants me to stop for a while and take a break! I have tested #COVID19 positive and in isolation. Taking all medication & treatment as per the advice of the doctors," Fadnavis tweeted.

As some other BJP leaders who had travelled with him during the campaign had tested corona positive, after returning to Mumbai on Friday evening, Fadnavis also got himself tested. He had also visited flood-affected areas of Maharashtra last week.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who was also campaigning with him, had also tested positive for covid on Thursday.
