RISHIKESH, Nov 1: Twenty four rafting guides have tested positive for coronavirus here. Nine of them are in institutional quarantine and 15 in self-isolation.
The Uttarakhand Government had allowed resumption of the tourist activities in the State from September 26 on condition of compliance with covid guidelines.
However, tourists have been defying the social-distancing norms. Around 20,000 tourists had come for rafting in Rishikesh since September 26. With 24 rafting guides testing positive for coronavirus, 676 others have also been asked to go for a test.
Corona tests are available at the camps in Shivpuri and Brahmapuri areas of Rishikesh.
Police said around 6,000 tourists have been fined for not wearing masks.
