BUENOS AIRES, Nov 26: Football legend Diego Maradona has died of a heart attack at the age of 60. He passed away at his home in Buenos Aires on Wednesday. His last words were: "I feel sick."
He had undergone a brain surgery two weeks ago. He also had a history heart problems due to alcohol and drug abuse.
The Argentinian is survived by five children from four women, including his wife Claudia Villafane.
Maradona had won the World Cup in 1986. He knocked England out in the quarter final with the infamous 'Hand of God' goal.
"You took us to the top of the world. You made us immensely happy. You were the greatest of all. Thanks for having existed, Diego. We will miss you for a lifetime," Argentinian President Alberto Fernandez tweeted. He has declared three days of mourning.
His body was scheduled to be taken to the President's mansion, Casa Rosada, in Olivos for a private viewing on Thursday morning.
