Prohibitory orders in Lucknow to check covid spread
Section 144 of the CrPC was imposed in the city on October 15 and it was in force till November 25. The extension is in view of the spurt in coronavirus cases and the forthcoming Sufi festival Gyarvi Shareef and Kartik Poornima/Gurunanak Jayanti.

UCKNOW, Nov 26: The prohibitory orders in Lucknow, the State Capital, was on Wednesday extended till December 1 as a preventive measure against coronavirus in view of the festivals.

In a statement issued here, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Lucknow, Naveen Arora said that Section 144 of the CrPC was imposed in the city on October 15 and it was in place till November 25.

Sufi festival Gyarvi Shareef is on November 27 and Kartik Poornima/Gurunanak Jayanti on November 30. The ban prohibits assembly of five or more people.

The State Government had issued revised coronavirus restrictions on Monday. Fifty per cent of the capacity of an indoor place, be it a hall or a room (outside containment zones), but not exceeding 100 people, only is now allowed in case of any social, religious, cultural, sports, educational, entertainment and political programme or wedding. Earlier, 200 people were allowed in a hall, room or any indoor place.

In outdoor functions, only 40% of the space will be allowed to be occupied. Use of face masks, sanitisers, thermal scanning and social distancing will be compulsory.
