MUMBAI, Nov 30: The kingpin of the tatkal railway ticket booking racket has been arrested by the Railways police. The accused, Satyanarayana Miryala, had allegedly developed a tatkal software to break into the IRCTC system to make tatkal bookings.
The Central Railway said it unearthed his network of 540 associates working across the country. It said Miryala got Rs 10 lakh from his associates as commission in the current month alone. He was collecting Rs 200 per ticket.
Miryala's software would fill all details pf passengers for all seats in just 30 seconds, outwitting the passengers trying to book tickets on the IRCTC website.
Miryala took his degree in commerce from Pawar college in Bhiwandi and later did a course in software engineering from the National Institute of Information Technology, it was revealed in his interrogation by the Railway Protection Force. He was arrested on November 19.
Earlier he was arreted in October last on the charge of ticket brokerage and had been on bail.
