How to save yourself from corona, and save the world!

During corona time, the best is not to step out; in case you go out, use hand sanitizer frequently; stay away from others 6 feet; don't touch face, eyes, nose, mouth, and if in self- doubt, carry a stress ball; wash hands with soap thoroughly on return - You are safe, and others too. Sure!

These are IndiaTravelTimes.com's life-saving tips:-

  • Stay at home and don't step out;
  • Avoid non-essential travel;
  • Avoid crowded places like markets;
  • Avoid crowding at hospitals/clinics for minor ailments and postpone elective surgeries till situation improves.
  • Keep a distance of 6 feet from others, whosoever - This is No 1 precaution
  • Wash hands thoroughly and frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer frequently (also known as handrubs) (SEE below).
  • Don't touch any object/surface touched by others like packets, bags, door knobs, water taps, lift panels, computer accessories, currencies etc. Else, take remedial measures like hand cleaning without delay.
  • Don't touch your face, nose, eyes, mouth with unwashed hands. This is most important. Corona's target is the lungs through the throat/nostrils with its droplets.
  • Sneeze or cough into a tissue or folded elbow to prevent spreading the virus. You may be carrying the virus asymptomatically: reason why corona is on a killing spree.
  • Disinfect frequently places and surfaces used by other people.

Hand washing:-

Hand washing is the best way to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection and other germs, only next to social distancing of 6 feet. Wash hands thoroughly and frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds. During corona time if going out is unavoidable, carry a hand sanitizer.

How to do it:

  • Wet hands with warm and running (if possible) water;
  • Add soap;
  • Rub hands vigorously for 20 seconds;
  • Wash all surfaces: backs of hands, wrists, between fingers, tips of fingers, thumbs under fingernails (use nailbrush);
  • Rinse;
  • Keep fingers pointing down;
  • Dry with paper or clean cloth towel;
  • Turn off faucet with towel and open door with towel

How it works:

The soap-water is not killing the germs but the lather eraces and suspends the dirt on the hands and soils. The friction motion helps pull greasy or oily soils free from the skin. Friction of wiping hands removes more germs.

Regular hand washing with soap and water can protect you from many illnesses caused by viruses and bacteria. Germs hide on remote, door handles, keyboards, faucet handles, lift panels and any surface people touch. You can't see, they are microscopic. Washing hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and water is a safeguard against infectious diseases. Otherwise, these germs may get into your eyes, nose, or mouth and cause illnesses.

When to wash hands in normal times:

  • On return home from outside;
  • After using the bathroom;
  • Before touching any food or eating;
  • After handling animals or animal wastes;

Using hand sanitizer:-

This is not a new discovery, alcohol has been used as a disinfectant for centuries. And it is also so commonly seen today when we are given a jab. Currently, with corona on the rampage, alcohol-based hand sanitizers (also known as handrubs) have come into focus. Experts say it should be used the proper way. Even so, it does not eliminate all types of germs, according to the CDC. However, ensure that the hand sanitizer has at least 60% alcohol to be effective and not more than say, 80%, because, they say, some water content is required for the process of denaturation of those pesky germs.

Remember:-

First, all dirt should be removed from hands before using hand sanitizers. If hands are visibly dirty, go for hand wash. That is better.

Second, apply it on one palm, then rub hands together covering all surfaces of hands and fingers till it is absorbed. It acts quickly to kill micro-organisms on hands

Third, must use enough of it (see the label)

Fourth, don't wipe it off before it is dried

Fifth, it is less irritating to the skin than soap and water

Sixth, it can be done anywhere any time, and;

Seventh, but it won't remove chemicals like pesticides
