Delhi schools reopen for Classes 10, 12 under strict SOP
“We are not thinking about reopening (all) the schools until a sufficient number of people are vaccinated,” Education Minister Manish Sisodia said.

NEW DELHI, Jan 18: Schools in Delhi reopened after remaining closed due to covid for the last ten months. However, the reopening was only for Classes 10 and 12 for their practicals and pre-Borad examinations.

The students who appeared to be very happy to attend their schools after a long time wore face masks and maintained social distance.

The Delhi Government has no plans to reopen all the schools for other classes now. “We are not thinking about reopening the schools until a sufficient number of people are vaccinated,” Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia said on Monday.

The CBSE Board examinations are scheduled to be held from May 4 to June 10 and the results wil be out on July 15.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had earlier said that all precautions were being taken and the students were to bring their parents' written consent. There were no assemblies in the schools as gatherings are a major source of transmission of covid. The students have been told not to share books and stationery. They will have to adhere to guidelines like hand sanitisation and wearing of face masks.

Attendance was not mandatory. The teachers and students residing in containment zones were not expected to attend the schools. The CBSE exams are from May 3 to June 10.

Several State boards, including Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Himachal, Maharashtra, Goa, Rajasthan, Bihar and Odisha have announced Class 10 and Class 12 final exam dates.
