Police hunt for Deep Sidhu, Jugraj Singh for hoisting Khalsa flag
Jugraj Singh who reportedly hoisted the Nishan Sahib (Khalsa flag) flag atop the Red Fort and activist Deep Sidhu, who is accused of instigating the violence on Republic Day are missing.

NEW DELHI, Jan 28: Punjabi actor-turned-activist Deep Sidhu is reported missing after the farmers' tractor rally and the violence that followed at the Red Fort in Delhi on Republic Day on January 26.

While farmer unions denied any hand in the violence, Sidhu had reportedly said his supporters did not remove the national flag at the Red Fort, but only put up the 'Nishan Sahib' as a symbolic protest. He was last seen in the crowd at the Red Fort.

The Delhi police have filed a case against Sidhu in connection with the Red Fort violence. According to News18, Sidhu had conducted a Facebook live while putting up the flag. "We have only hoisted the Nishan Sahib flag on the Red Fort while exercising our democratic right to protest," Sindhu could be heard in the video.

The police have also issued a lookout notice against the farmer leaders.

Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) functionaries have blamed Sidhu for turning the tractor rally route to the Red Fort and the violence that followed.

Deep Sidhu is said to be a supporter of federalism and more powers for the States. Earlier, the NIA had summoned him and his brother Mandeep Singh in connection with a case filed against the banned outfit 'Sikhs For Justice'. The 36-year-old is close to Sikh ideologue Ajmer Singh. He has been supporting the farmers' agitations against the recent farm laws that began over two months ago. He belongs to Muktsar in Punjab.

Jugraj Singh, 23, from Wan Tara Singh in Tarn Taran in Punjab is said to have hoisted the Nishan Sahib (Khalsa flag) flag atop the Red Fort on Republic Day. Jugraj's parents are believed to have left the village apprehending police action. It is reported the police raided the house. Jugraj's grandfather Mehal Singh told PTI that Jugraj must have hoisted the flag after climbing the flag pole on the persuasion of other protesters.
