Schools for Classes 9 and 11, all colleges to open in Delhi on Feb 5
Sisodia said all institutions will have to follow covid safety rules. Schools had reopened on January 18 but only for Classes 10 and 12 in view of the Board examinations.

NEW DELHI, Jan 31: All schools in Delhi will open on February 5 for Classes 9 and 11. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said all institutions will have to follow covid safety rules and students will have to bring letter of consent from their parents.

Sisodia said, "Schools for Classes 9 and 11 students, as well as colleges and degree diploma institutions will reopen in Delhi from February 5, following COVID protocols. The students will attend classes in a staggered manner and with the permission of parents."

Sisodia said physical attendance will not be compulsory. All schools and colleges will follow the covid guidelines. He said the guidelines announced when schools reopened for students of Classes 10 and 12 on January 18 for pre-board preparations and practical work will be applicable.

All schools were closed since last March because of the coronavirus pandemic. They were reopened on January 18 but only for Classes 10 and 12 in view of the Board examinations.

The covid situation has improved tremendously in Delhi in a month as elsewhere in the country with only eight deaths being reported in the last 24 hours and 183 new cases. So far there have been a total of 6.34 lakh cases of coronavirus infection in the Capital, claiming 10,849 lives. Delhi conducted 68,967 PCR and Antigen tests in the past one day.
