MADURAI, Feb 1: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy
Chief Minister O Panneerselvam dedicated a temple to former Chief Minister the
late J Jayalalitha and her mentor, ADMK founder and former super star the late
MG Ramachandran, who also had served as Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister, in Tirumangalam in Madurai on Saturday.
With the Assembly election just a few months away, Panneerselvam, paying tributes
to the late leaders at a party meeting, said both MGR and Jayalalitha worked
tirelessly for the welfare of the poor and the marginalised. “They sacrificed
their entire life for the welfare of the people.” He said that the AIADMK believes
in the power of people and god, both of which are in favour of the ruling Government.
Palaniswami vowed to form the ‘Amma government’ again by winning the upcoming
elections.
Both Palaniswami and Panneerselvam are trying to show to party workers they
are united and send a message across to Sasikala, a close and indispensable
former associate of Jayalalitha, who has just been released after serving a
four-year jail term in Bengaluru in a disproportionate assets case, and is about
to reach Tamil Nadu, that she is not wanted in the party.
All top leaders were present on the occasion. The temple has two statues weighing
400 kg each of MGR and Jayalalitha. Revenue Minister RB Udhayakumar had commissioned
the temple.
