CHENNAI, Feb 19: The Tamil Nadu Government has decided to lift the restrictions on intra-State and inter-State domestic flights. "The Government of Tamil Nadu has now decided to lift the restriction in number of inter-State and intra-State domestic flights operations in respect to all airports in Tamil Nadu”, the Chief Secretary said in a letter to the Civil Aviation Ministry.
The Airport Director at Chennai had requested the State Government to lift the restriction on operation of flights and the Civil Aviation Ministry had also wanted the Tamil Nadu Government to lift the curbs.
However, the ban on international flights will continue. As the lockdown was lifted, the number of domestic flights from the State had gradually gone up to 100.
Meanwhile, the Centre has issued new guidelines for international arrivals amid the spread of mutant variants of coronavirus in many countries. It will come into force from February 22.
